The Group Study Exchange (GSE) Program from Rotary International offers a great method of reaching out to someone from the other side of the world to exchange information about your culture, your family, your aspirations, and your dream of how to make this planet a little smaller, more friendly, and more peaceful - - while having some fun.

GSE French Outbound Team
In October of 2007, LR Metro Rotarian - Steve Maxwell led the Outbound Team from District 6150 to visit the Alsace region of France. This beautiful part of the northeastern area of this country is home for Rotary District 1680.
Shown here in the quaint little town of Colmar is Serge, our local guide and former District Governor, Steve Maxwell, Jill McIlroy, Tamisha Cheatam, Jo Anna Stewart, and Justin Bank - who is also now a member of Little Rock Metro Rotary.
On May 13th, 2005 our Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team from Norway was our program to advise on their culture and what their professions are like in Norway. Our club then provided the transportation for their visits in Little Rock that day including a visit to the Arkansas Arts Center for Lunch.
Norwegian GSE Team
Little Rock Metro Rotary has participated several times with hosting Youth Exchange Students, from Italy, Mexico, and Brazil. We have also hosted visiting students from Russia several years ago. What a refreshing way to see first hand that kids are the same all of the world.
THEY ALL LOVE TO HAVE FUN ! !
Support of TSUNAMI Victims
In January, 2005, Little Rock Metro members bought Box #924 from Shelter Box USA that was sent to Indonesia. The 49 gallon green box shown on the right contains supplies to support a group of ten for the next 6-12 months. There are 10 ponchos & sleeping bags, tablets to purify water, cooking utensils and a stove, a shovel, rope & other items. The 3 compartment tent included is also shown on the right. Click on the Box and it will link to their website for more details.
The great thing about this project is that it is sponsored by Rotarians in the USA and the boxes will be delivered onsite by Rotarians making sure that they get where they are needed the most.
